How to tell my GC2 version?

How do I tell which version I have? Reason: I find the Stardock method of patching to be a little unclear about whether it's actually updating the my game or not. Dunno if I have the up-to-date version or not. Thanx.

When starting gc2 will write these information in the debug.err-file in the gc2-main-directory, it looks like this:
Debug Message: Version v1.1 BETA-1 last updated on: Fri Mar 24 19:54:46 2006

Also, on the main menu, the version number is displayed in the bottom left of the screen.

It may be good to remember, MT4K, that no everyone is remotely computer savvy or as familiar with their PC games and the methodologies of patching, listing version #s, etc...as some of us are. Someone might have seen those numbers and just totally ignored them as gibberish or unimportant.

Actually on the topic of "computer savvy", I'm an IT Admin and I build pcs on the side.

Reason I was asking is that I installed and patched GC2 on my gaming rig at home remotely from work, GC2 will not play over remote desktop so I wanted to know how to check without running the game.

Typically you will see the ver in the executable but that is not the case. I will check crash dump file, good advice.

Thanx all.

Tell me: what will it say if I update to the new Beta? It currently says 1.0x.2.

Now someone welcome an old 4x player to these boards.
