A Little help with maximized borders...

Hey everyone,

I know this question has probably been answered a million times, but i have to ask one more time - i googled the forums but couldn't find anyhing on it.

In a few of my skins (Like GT2 and GT3 for example), when i maximize a window, it keeps the window border after being maximized... and that really doesn't look good. Is there a way to keep the window borders from showing when a window is maximized? Because these borders can be quite thick sometimes - but never the less; it doesn't look good.

-Thanks!

I'd like to second this request. I have the same problem with WB5 when using skins that don't use per pixel borders and that worked correctly with WB4. Strangly enough not all programs have these problems. One example is the Windows Explorer. And the problem (for me) is only there when the program starts maximized because it was closed maximized last time. If I restore and maximize the window manually everything is correct again (i.e. no visible window borders).

You can set Screen Edge Clip settings using SkinStudio. Load up the skin and click on the TitleBar in the Preview Pane (set to show the "Active Window"). Expand the Attribute items in the upper right pane & you'll see a Screen Edge Clip setting for each border (Top, Bottom, Left, Right) which can be set to any number of pixels you like. If the border in question is 4 pixels wide, set it for 4, and so forth. The default behavior if no Screen Edge Clip setting is present is the Windows default behavior - 4 pixels get clipped off each border - so the skins you have which are not getting clipped when maximized probably have Screen Edge Clip set to zero all around.

Some people seem to be getting odd behavior at times, I must admit, however. On my rig, using the latest WB5 beta, Screen Edge Clip settings are working for all app windows except Explorer itself, which if closed from a max'd window always next opens with 4 pixels clipped off each edge, remedied by a single restore/maximize cycle, and another highly specialized voice recognition/transcription application whose developers put more into the app than into making its interface standardized (and certainly not "theme-aware" certified).

I don't believe the settings have any effect (and may not even be present to be set in SKS when viewing the "Active Window - Translucent" preview) on perpixel Titlebars & borders (the ones using transparency), however. Those are set to be automatically clipped by design (the same way Windows Classic has always clipped the borders of max'd windows).

So, it depends on whether the skin is using perpixel borders, whether the skin has included Screen Edge Clip settings for non-perpixel window borders and whether an application draws its borders in standard fashion.

The same here using GT3 OS.  The lastest WB5 beta fixed everything except Explorer/Recycle Bin border issues.
