How to make the GERMAN Version WORK with the path!!

or how to make an English version out of the German one without redownloading

Hi,
I bought the german version of the game and also got frustrated with the patch chaos. But I found a simple even though not perfect solution that works great for me:
Before applying the patch I saved the Data/German directory of my installation to German_old. Then I copied all the data from Data/English to Data/German which overwrites all the files. Then I applied the patch. After that I again copied all the data from the English Directory to the German one.

This way you get an English version WITHOUT having to download the whole game over Stardock Central. I tried it out in a short game and everything seems to work. Version number is correct too (after the path 1.0X something).
If you need a German version I guess you have to wait for either Paradox or Stardock to come up with some solution. I am happy with the English one.

If you also want audio in the intro movie you have to download the movie update over Stardock Central seperately. There is also an update for the tutorials.

People have been working for the translation, and there is some code .xml files, and where to put them. Only problem is the .xml doesnt copy well, so some editing to make it fit is needed, but it'll work. The problem seems that frogboy and co are working on a fix assuming the game is 1.0x like paradox said, but it isn't. Anyway, heres the link

just learn english and get the real version of the game. I hate translated games, books and just about everything. Germans are way to lazy when it comes to languages.

Good to know that you know us so well!

btw: there is no need for you to bully people who just want to enjoy a game in their native tongue. If you don't like that just stay out of the thread

I'm german, too and prefer german localized games, if available. I have no problem with english games, but it's a much more solid experience to play in native tongue. I hate to read passages of text more than once to understand every bit. Call me lazy

Got the german premium package today, but quickly downloaded the english version. Simply to avoid issues some of us germans were talking about. Installation worked without any problems and the game seems to run solid since that (I never had any serious problems installing a game, well apart from starforce-protection, that is!). Still learning the basic strategies. Designing your own ships is fun.

Then in german school, why are you required to know 2 launguages (sorry, bad spelling) by at least high school?
if im wrong, then the rules changed again. but my required 3 langueges cousin knows a and shes only in 3rd grade.(i didnt say she was good, but she can talk ok-ish)

hows THAT for german smarts?
i bet you 5$ people will qoute on "how is that possible for a 3rd grader to know 3 laungesges?"

The same way they know six languages by the age of ten. A pushy school helps.

I dislike translations as well. But I'm not near-rascist about it. Because English is an awful, irritating language. Before you reply saying "it's better than yours!" I was born in England, and know understandable German and basic French. German makes sense, English doesn't. That's why trnaslations so often don't work: German (as I was taught it) makes sense. Adding meaning to the word extends the word. It doesn't change the whole word with the emphasis. English isn't even a true language, It's german, dutch, saxon, french, and some latin, and our verbs are often stupid and meaningless.

Don't be rascist becase YOU'RE too lazy to give a crap about other cultures.
