Will existing updates work with German localized version (Koch Media GmbH)???

As GalCiv 2 will be released on March 24th here in Germany I have one simple question:
If I would buy a retail version here would I be able to update immediately with the existing patches or will it be like with GalCiv 1 where you had to wait for months for a patch?

Thanks for your reply in advance!

Greetings,

Well, I fear that it will be like GC1, unless you want to play a mixed version. But I don't know.

Can't give you an official answer, but Brad (of Stardock) and Florian (of Paradox) both said that they are working on a solution for the current problem (the 1.0X update doesn't work with the German version). I got the impression that they will be working towards a solution that allows for smooth updating of non-English game versions. If not language-independent updates, my guess is that non-English updates will be released either simultaneously or shortly after an English release. But that's just my impression. In any event, they seemed to be quite aware of the situation and also appeared to be genuinely interested in getting this sorted quickly.

Also, how does Koch Media fit into the picture? The German version is distributed by Paradox, not by Koch Media. I'd not have bought the game if Koch had been the distributor, because they clearly stated that all of their games will be "protected" by Starforce -- and I won't buy games that come with that copy protection.

Anyway, there's also the option to use your serial key to download the US version through Stardock Central. I only have ISDN, but I took that offfer and I'm glad I did.
