Are Trade Good too valuable?

I just played a tiny game where i wiped out the ai's. I researched diplomatic translators, purchased the trade good, and traded with every ai and minor race. the ai's were more than willing to trade me 1 planet and all their ships for that trade good. I ended up buying love mushrooms and trading the ai's for everything but their home world..

I don't think i should be able to get away with this. But i traded to everyone during the same turn, so i think it might be hard for the ai's to figure out that i've been hawking this trade good the everybody in the galaxy. I wish 1 of the ai's would say "hey you just sold it to the yor down the road so i'll buy it cheap from him, take a hike! " :D

Just an idea, what do you think?

Trade goods cannot be sold on. Only the race which developed the trade good can sell it. Just assume that the trade good can only be made on a particular planet and cannot be duplicated.

It could be a nice addition at a later stage to add more details to trade good (yearly income / lease / licencing / etc). This may just add micromanagement though.

thanks paul

I'm sure it would it would add more micromanagement than it would be ever worth. I think iwas wanting more flavored responses form the a.i. I'm going to try a game with each ai set from idiot to genius and see what happens

Actually, I think Brad said to think of trade goods as a patented product that you sell a license to others so they can reproduce them. Naturally they can not sell a license for something for which they don't hold the patent.
