Multiple Ship Entrys, among other things

Good day

I found something very odd when I loaded up my save today

Last night I started a new game, gigantic, nine races (Nine kinds of fun )
Well, played till two in the morning (this game is addictive...)

Then I loaded up the save today and...... well... lets see

I had four ADDITIONAL designs now for my four units:

I had four new designs in addition to my core design for my Colony MK2, Constructor MK3, Scout MK4 and Freighter MK9

So I had five designs in total for each ship, thing is, it wasn't even REGISTERING the other designs in the shipyard(Only the original design *I* created, not the copie's), so even if I made my current one's obsulute it still kept the copie's

Now, that wasn't the bad part. The bad part came when I finally researched large hulls, and disrupters, I then had 19 new designs for the same exact ship, there where only slight differences in the ship designs (additional parsec here, maybe some extra range there, but nothing else)

It got so confusing I had to quit my game and delete the ships (I always do that) but the fact is: Last night the game ran JUST fine, no lag, no problems, then when I load up today I find those new problems along with some .... lag???? I didn't have lag last night so why now?

Any idea's anyone?

And this is not the first time, this has happened now three times in a row, the first two times I just reinstalled the game and hoped for the best, now I'm reporting it.... this is very annoying, espically when I I can't DELETE The copy's!

I have a similar problem that I noticed last night. At least I believe what you're describing is what happened to me.
I designed a few tiny fighter ships, 2 medium sized warships, a colony transport and a constructor early in my game. Loaded them with very basic modules and weapons.
Hours later, after I've researched more advance propulsion techs, weapons and sensors, I find that when I go to a starport and try to change what is being built, I find 3 or 4 duplicate entries for each ship class I had designed. They weren't exact copies, however. The primary difference I noticed was the speeds. They all had varying speeds (3 constructors with speeds of 1, 5, and 7.)
I simply just found the fastest one to build and worked around it, but I could find no way to remove the duplicates. When visiting the shipyard, the original designs were all there with the basic parts I had outfitted them with, yet chosing the build command from the starports always made me pick from several copies.
I am under the assumption this may be tied to the research tree, but I don't know how to fix it apart from Obsoleting the ship designs altogether and just making new ones now that my tech tree is more open up.
Is the game automatically upgrading my ships as the techs become available? And if that's the case, is there any way for it to remove the useless ones?
Actually, as I type this, I realize now what might be happening. The original ship designs are there, but when I go to the starport, it gives me the option of building it with better engines for more time/money.
If that's the case, then I have to say I'm not a fan of it, but I guess it makes a little sense.

Can someone please ellaborate/explain why this is happening? Thanks! Love the game!

Aye, for me it either occurs AFTER I load up the save

Or, after twenty-twenty five game years have passed

It's VERY annoying espically when I have several custom ship designs and suddenly notice duplicates of those designs, it's not only very annoying, but also very confusing. If this game wasn't turn based then it would certianly be a murder

But yes, for me, the only difference in the duplicates is the speed yet the ship is of the same design
