A pirate's tale and...

...another editor's choice award.

First, did you guys notice that GalCiv2 got the Editor's Choice award on Firingsquad? Check it out at www.firingsquad.com.

Second, I just had to post this. The last game I bought without playing it first was MoO3. After that I swore never to buy another game before I'd downloaded and played the pirated version. Hate me if you want, and I know it's illegal, but I'm tired of waiting for games for ages and then paying cash for something that's crap.

So I figured I'd do the same with GalCiv2, particularily since GalCiv1 didn't impress me that much. Since there isn't any copy protection, the game should appear on the hubs early, right? Right? It didn't. It actually appeared the day before yesterday, a week AFTER release. Isn't it interesting that games using StarForce and whatnot are cracked and released prior to or at most a few hours after release on the warez hubs, but this most excellent piece of software, with no protection whatsoever, could only be acquired through legal means for more than a week?

So, being the impatient guy I am, I ordered it online instead. One to two days, they said it'd take to deliver it. Pfah! The game was sold out and I had to wait almost a week!

But yesterday, I FINALLY got it, collector's edition and all in a beautiful (and very sturdy) box, and boy have I regained faith in the game industry. I might even start buying games again if they're this good. Keep up the good work!

Now if I could only figure out how to not suck so much at the game...
