How do I make my ships go specific places/ do specific things?

How do I make my colony ship colonize a world, or my contstructor build/ mine anything? All I can make them do is auto explore and survey? Thanks for whatever obvious answer you have...

Arrow keys. And the numaric keypad for moving diagonal. You can also right-click where you want them to go.

When you launch a Colony Ship, simply right-click on the planet you want it to colonize (the class has to be above 0, though).

For Constructors, simply send them to the square you want them to build something, then in the small menu in the ship description portion (center bottom), click 'Construct' and choose the type of Starbase you want.
