Playing in windows mode?

You can enable windowed mode by creating a shortcut to GalCiv2.exe and use that to start the game.

1) Use Windows Explorer to find GalCiv2.exe.
2) Right click on GalCiv2.exe and choose create shortcut.
3) Right click on the shortcut and choose properties.
4) Click in the target field and hit end. Hit Space followed by the letter w. No switches neccesary.

Call me stupid but I did what you suggestes and the game opens up in regular mode. Any ideas?

start the games, go into options, under video, untick full screen. you will need to restart the game

done so... still opens in regular mode... errrrr

Keep in mind that if GalCiv2 is running at the same resolution as your desktop, it will appear fullscreen.  The titlebar is just moved off the screen.

duhh... I feel like homer simpson... so is there a way to minimize it so that I can close, maximize, minimize the window when in need?

What's your resolution ? If yours is max 1024*768 window mode = full screen (Or beter said, windowed but with no borders).
