Minor Nitpick or Bug?

Well, I was hoping this would be addressed by the patch, but it appears it hasn't. My apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I didn't see it.

I love all the different ways you can sort the tech tree, however, in the early game I usually either pick "cost" or "time remaining" in order to at least start my research down the various branches of the tech tree. Once the game takes shape I have a better idea of what to reseach, so am a bit more careful, however the early game takes a bit to get your infrastructure up and running.

But it seems that after each particular tech is researched, the game goes and picks the next tech down that particular branch and scrolls the list down to that tech, no matter how far down the list it is. It would be *really* nice if the game just chose the next, ie the top tech, in the tree for whatever sort method you've chosen once the prior tech has been researched. I sometimes am doing very many things and when a new tech gets researched, I just click "done" thinking I'm researching the next least expensive or next quickest tech to research and end up instead picking a tech that could take weeks and weeks and weeks to research.

Other than that, GREAT GAME, I have had NO other problems. I bought the game sight unseen based on GameSpot's musings that this game might be the spiritual successor to MOO II and I wholeheartedly agree. I'm VERY glad that your sales have exceeded your expectations! Great work!

Does anyone else have this problem? Am I the only one? It's driving me crazy and would love to know if there's a fix in the works or if there's a workaround. Help me Obi-Wan Galciv!

I've had the same behavior, but I wouldn't call it a problem. Having the game go to the next cheapest tech wouldn't do any more good than having it go to the next tech on the tree, 'coz I probably won't want either. I don't see any way for the game to effectively pick the next tech I'll need.
