What to do with your flagship?

Well after scouting and grabbing anamolies(sp?).. I dont really know what to do with my flagship.

I mean... should I upgrade it into a fighter?... what about those anamolies that give XP and such..will this transfer over with an upgrade?

Just curious what you do with your flagship. And is there any penalty for losing your flagship?

Should you upgrade it? Once all anamolies are done, yes, because a survey vessel's pretty useless. Buildinga cheap, faster scout will be better for regular exploration.

To a fighter? May as well, it's the only real fighting class ya have that early

Will XP transfer? Oh yes

Penalty for losing it? I have had mine blown up plenty of times without any apparent negative repurcussions.

cool, thanks for the info.

BTW.. Anamolies are supposed to respawn...they actually do but a bug causes them to not show up on your mini map or anything. You will only see them if you happen to be zoomed in when you pass it by.

Once this is fixed, you are gonna want to keep survey ships around.

I use mine to just scout areas while I wait for my sensor tech to increase. The Flagship's sensor and navigational range is great for 'scouting' what the other races are doing.

I keep it as a sensor vessel. I build a few other sensor vessels when I get the tech and keep them strategically located to provide advance warning of incoming ships. I also use it to sneak and peek into neighboring systems, see what's been built up.

Yes, the flagship makes a great mobile probe. Sometimes if I'm coordinating an invasion I'll group the flagship with my transports so I can see if the enemy is sending reinforcements. If the reenforcements are too much for my invasion fleet, I have more time to get the heck out of there than I would given the sensor range of my typical fighter or corvette class.

I cannot upgrade my Flagship to anything but core ship designs... if that.

Ouch, that sucks!

The flagship is actually awesome. I never have to study scanners, and I dont have to waste valuable space in my fighters. Just bring the flagship along when attacking. I never have to worry about military starbases because I can see them nice and early. Also, since you see the whole battlefield, you can place your ships in such a way as to always get a pre-emptive strike on any enemy fleet (often saving the equivalent of a heavy fighter).

You have to have other ships with medium sized hulls in order to upgrade the flagship.

I would like to have the opportunity to combine the "auto-explore" with "auto-search" command for the survey vessels. That way, they would simply go where no man has gone before, but stopping and doing some research on the way (sounds familiar?)

Do military starbases attack ships within their range? I haven't built any yet. If so I need to get to building them!

The problem is that I do have other medium hulled ships, I just cannot upgrade to them. It's really irritating, since I have a semi worthless ship sitting about.

I put it in my Aerospce Interstellar Museum for future generations to marvel at.

I have upgraded my flagship several times. It has to be a medium hull design since your flagship is a medium hull ship. I know it works. Perhaps, Wicked Flea, you are doing something wrong?

For Brilhasti: Starbases do not attack unless they are attacked. Military starbases will provide some pretty monstrous bonuses to ships in combat in their area of effect though. A military starbase can make some weak 1st generation ship competitive against 3rd and 4th generation ships. Or it can make a fighter strong enough to handle something with medium and large hulls.

I still think it's wierd you start off with a medium hull ship for your survey ship... yet you can't BUILD another one, for quite sometime.

Did some wacky astrotech scientist misplace the friggin' plans or something?!

Anomalies do spawn throughout the game. They also disapear if you don't grab them fast enough. It may be best to keep one Survey Ship to grab these extra anomalies that show up.

The background story goes that the incomplete stargate was taken apart for salvage to create your initial survey ship and colony ship. My interpretation of this is that they were able to make one medium hull because cost wasn't an issue, but you can't make cost-effective medium hulls until you've got the tech (by cost-effective, I mean that don't take most of the industrial output of a homeworld years to build).

Now that's bizzare, I was just able to upgrade my flagship!

...

Whatever, I don't get it. Not at all.
