[BUG/EXLPOIT] : Build Time Exploit

Build Time Exploit

This is right at the start of new game. No turns have been taken.

Go to the Colony Management screen.
Select an available tile to build on.
Build any project other then the Market Center on the selected tile.
Build Times according to the build queue:
Basic Factory – 17 weeks
Basic Farming – 17 weeks
Basic Lab - 14 Weeks
Entertainment Network –19 weeks
Select the project from the build queue and then remove it.
(Note: The above steps were done just to gather information on the build times and do not need to be performed to use the exploit.)

The Exploit:
Select an available tile to build on and place a Market Center on that tile. (12 weeks to build the market center.)
Next select the Market Center from the build queue and select a project from Available Projects. Either double click on the project or use the upgrade button.

Here are the new Build Times according to the build queue:
Basic Factory – 5 weeks
Basic Farming – 5 weeks
Basic Lab – 2 Weeks
Entertainment Network – 7 weeks

This issue can be produced with any project that has a build time less then the project that you build over it. I used the Market Center because it has the shortest build time and allowed me to show that each of the other available projects build times were changed.

For what I can see it appears that the new build times are the are based on the number of additional weeks it would take to build newly selected project.

Just one more example in which I can have an Entertainment Network built after 2 turns in the game (right at the start of the game). Select either a Basic Factory or Farming project (17 weeks to build). Select the tile and place an Entertainment Network (19 weeks to build). Press the turn button twice and now I have an entertainment Network on the planet.

I've assumed this was by design: in upgrading a tile from one building type to another, you get some percentage of the cost applied to the new project. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

yes but the building that's being "upgraded" hasn't actually been built yet. it's a bug.

Ok, so just to clarify:

-Pick a tile and queue whatever. DON'T buy it, DON'T end turn.
-Click the tile with the ghostly unbuilt whatever and press 'UPGRADE.'
-Select a different project. Production time reflects an upgrade to an extant structure, despite NOTHING actually being built?

So say an upgrade should be 20 turns for the project you WANT there but you instead pick something faster then switch back?

BTW it works with super projects as well. Start building a super project of 100 turns then immediatelly upgrade to a project of 105 turns. Voila, super project in 5 turns. The build times are just examples and could be any number. As long as the second project takes longer it will build in the time difference between the first and the second

Honestly I don't use it (other than trying it a couple of times) because it is too anal playing around calculating the building times and it is an obvious cheat.
