Retail Availability: UPDATE!

Retail Availability: UPDATE!

We've gotten word from Take 2 (our distributor) today that they are putting Galactic Civilizations II into the channel as fast as possible.

Simply put, indie games don't tend to have this kind of demand so they're struggling to meet the demand.  It should be pretty thoroughly stocked by Friday (2 days from now) though some places sporadically do have it in stock.

If there was a graph of "interest level" in the game, it spiked massively as February rolled around from being a smaller title to being a very high demand title.  So everyone's playing catch-up.

If you've pre-ordered it from retail or are planning to get it at retail, please don't cancel your order.  We'll make it worth your while.  We will try to release an update this Friday afternoon to coincide with the wider availability so that you have something to look forward to when you bring the game home beyond what's already available.

We'll put together a Journal entry on what will be in that update, we're still deciding. Probably some additional maps, scenarios, and some bug fixes, tweaks, etc.

So if it's not at your local store yet, it should be by Friday.  Purchasing at retail helps ensure that the game stays on store shelves longer.

It's Monday and I still can't find the Gal Civ 2 anywhere in San Jose, CA. Just came back from another Fry's. Local Walmart said they might have it tomorrow. Best Buy doesn't even have the game listed on their website as of last night and I've tried two of their stores. GameStop still hasn't received their copies.

I have it on mail order now from Amazon. Their site says the game should be mailed as early as March 2.

Well, still no luck with EB in Winston Salem, NC. Just got a call from the manager who tracked down a box on its way from Dallas today heading this way. Not sure when it will get here but at least some news.

Got my game from a Gamestop in Houston, TX. I had mine reserved and there were about 6 of them on the shelves. The Bad thing though is that they were all regular editions. Oh well..I got my copy and thats all that matters. They Gamestop rep will be glad too since I can stop bothering him about GC2.

I work at an EB Games and we only got one copy in, which was on Monday, lucky for me I happened to be dropping by to check the schedule and took a glance and the shipment list to see it on it. Needless to say I bought it on the spot, my manager was happy, it saved him a game to gut.
