Sound FX issues

Hello,

I recently installed the download version of Galactic Civiliations (still waiting on my CD). The game plays music and movies just fine, but there are no in-game sound effects at all. I've tried toggling the sound settings but there was no effect. I reinstalled Windows Media Player 9 and I also installed the latest version of Direct X. None of that seemed to help.

The computer I'm running the game on is a PIII 550 with 192 MB RAM and a Voodoo Banshee video card. Yes I know I might as well have a saltine cracker in there, but the game runs fine otherwise.

Help please? I'm out of ideas on trying to solve this myself. Thanks in advance... ;)

Hmmm well you did say anyone :)

This might seems dumb but all I can think of at the moment is whether there are any sound files in the Galactic Civilizations\sfx directory?

After turning off the music in v1.1 I lost all of my sound effects. Did this happen after you turned the music off, Damien?

The files are physically all there. It doesn't matter whether I have the music on or off, nor whether sound effects are on or off when I do so. The sound effects are completely absent, *except* in the cutscenes and in the beginning screen when the panel opens up.

All I can say is I pretty much put all the info I know on that other thread above and if that doesn't help reply back and I will try to assist you further.If you have winamp or realplayer? I would try uninstalling these as well.From all the replys in the past it seems musicmatch jukebox works correctly and windows media player.
What OS are you running?

Well thanks for the help but for some reason the sound issue seems to have resolved itself. I don't know how, but when I started up the game yesterday I had full sound. Strange, but I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Thanks again! :)
