No diagonal edge mouse scrolling?

You cannot scroll the map diagonally by moving the mouse to the diagonal corner of the screen. I dunno, but that is something most 'map type' strategy games let you do.

Is there any way this can be put in?

Developer Note:

We took diagnal scrolling out because it was annoying players who hit the turn button.  We can look at putting in some sort of sensitivity option later.

However, most people move the screen around by LEFT-CLICKING on the main map (not the mini map) and holding that button down while they drag their mouse. It is much more precise and much easier.

They took that out as the screen would scroll every time you clicked on turn or menu, very distracting.

More annoying than having to move your mouse to two different screen edges every time you want to move the screen focus?

Or you can move the map any way direction you like by clicking, holding, and dragging (LMB, I do believe, although I'm at work so I can't double-check that... one of the mouse buttons, at any rate ).

Its no different now if you hit the screen edge.. the buttons are not on the screen edge, so unless you are very uncoordinated, it shouldnt matter.. The screen edges scroll anyway, they don't need to modify that .. its just that they need to add that if you activate the scrolling in a corner, it goes diagonally..

I shouldn't have to get carpal tunnel syndrome if I just want to scroll across my empire.. I realize thats an alternative, but the diagonal scrolling is something that should be in there no matter what other options exist.

Also, did I miss something or is there a list of keyboard commands somewhere?? I can't scroll with the keyboard.

Actuall, there are two problems with scrolling:

- It starts scrolling even before you reach the edge, which is highly annoying because it starts to scroll everytime you try to press one of the buttons at the bottom the menu button. And it's completey unnecessary, why not just start scrolling when you reach the edge, just like with any other game?

- No diagonal scrolling. Very annoying as well.

At first i was like: Why the hell is it so difficult to move around??? We need diagonal scrolling!

I totally agree that the corners of the map need to scroll diagonally. This was something that I asked for during beta testing and I am very disappointed that it didn't make it in. Every other game of this type allows diagonal scrolling at the corners. At the very least, we could make it an option.

I also vote for diagonal scrolling, and increased rate of scrolling as well

I agree; even the maximum scroll rate is pretty dang slow. Keyboard scrolling would also help.

Another vote for diagonal scrolling. Mouse-scrolling the screen is frustrating as it is.
But it shouldn't interfere with the buttons at the bottom...

I noticed the speed of the scrolling is also dependant on the zoom level. The more you are zoomed in, the quicker it moves.

Once I figured out dragging my view with the left mouse button, the lack of diagonal scroll does not bother me as much. It would still be nice to have.

pit it back in but add a toggle in the options to turn it off

Hey guys.. There is a slider that lets you adjust scroll speed so make sure you adjust that ! I thought it was slow at first too, but I just cranked up the slider and it worked beautifully..

Except for the lack of diagonal scrolling.

No diagonal scroll is really one of those little annoying things that you frequently encounter. It's minor as an isolated event, but over and over and over, I go to scroll diagonally only to get a little taste of frustration. Over time those little tastes add up.

Pleeeease add this at some point.

/Thumbsdown to no diagonal scroll

I have to agree here... I admit that grabbing and dragging is a nice alternative. But no diagonal scrolling is just a needless annoyance that shouldn't be in such a great game. Also keyboard scrolling would be nice...

It is an odd choice... I think it should be in the game- it just seems.... I guess I said odd already not to have it.

For me it is way too slow even at MAXIMUM scroll rate.

Yes, I really wish this option was there. It could be changed so that you had to be in the very bottom left or bottom right corner to scroll diagonally downwards, while upwards could keep the bigger "bumper" area. Even better would be to allow the user to define their own bumper area much like you see on laptop touchpad software.

Can anyone from Stardock update on this? Please?

If you use your mouse wheel (presuming your mouse isn't an antique) and ratchet out three or four times (which should put you most of the way out) left clicking and dragging should only take a few times to get across the biggest of maps. Side of screen scrolling really just annoys me, I love the new click/drag scrolling they have in this game.
