Structures for Ships not Symmetric?

Hi,

Just playing through my first game - totally awesome!!

One little thing that's bugging me though - in the shipyards, when I try to add two structures of the same type to separate hardpoints (like wings on a tiny ship), they never end up being quite symmetric - is there any way to make them so? Is this a bug?

Hmm....we tried to make sure that hardpoints always had a mirrored version on the other side. What ships dont you get this with?

Oh, and we're glad you're enjoying the game

You can make them symmetric, but you have to be careful to line it up with the correct hardpoint. If you've noticed, the part will kind of snap into place when you get over a hardpoint, so you can see if it will be symmetrical before you release it and stick it on that point.

Also It would be nice to "resize" them , some cool structures look huge on small and tiny ships.

Wow. Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm just trying to build a ship with a Terran tiny hull type right now. The structure I'm trying to attach is the "wing" structure - the first one in the list under "Your Style." I'm sure I'm selecting the mirror hardpoint, but for some reason, the mirror structure is added at a slightly different angle than the first one I added.

It gets even worse if I try to add four of them (like in an X-wing style). It really tramples on my ability to threaten other races by sheer design alone.

Oh - I found out you can resize the parts with the horizontal slider next to the "remove" button. You just need to resize -before- you attach the part.

You can... The little slider at the bottom of the ship window scales the item. I thought that was freaking sweet!

LordKiRon, are you suggesting to him that he resize it, or are you suggesting it as a feature? If suggesting as a feature, it's there already. It can be hard to get some things on at exactly the same size (especially some of the wings where you have to grab a different part) and I'd like to see that improved, but resizing the parts works fine.

Once you know you have to put them on the little red triangles its very easy (frustrating till you realise tho).

Know this is kinda late and all but even if you did just go to the store and get it, doesnt mean that thell have it yet.. Like me!

Boogie and Cari. The asymmetrical hardpoints have been around for a very long time, and effect quite a number of hulls from the pool, and quite a number of extras components; it's a widespread "problem". I've mentioned it several times during testing. Anybody who lovingly makes custom ship designs would _have_ to notice this at some stage.

However. The OP is right: they're only _slightly_ out, and in the general scheme of things it would be difficult to see the difference from the main map and even during fleet battles. If you haven't had mass reporting of the problem it's because of the above - most people just don't put enough importance on perfect summetry because it's only noticeable during the design process.

The problem is not critical, and is only an annoyance for us perfectionists.

Losers.

In any seriousness, I imagine it would annoy me too, but I haven't had enough time to design ships to notice yet (and I kind of rushed through my first game anyway).

For example. On the first tiny hull model the front most right side hardpoint is reversed.
