As for GC2, I didn't play a sandbox game with DA yet, but judging from the new AI options (the new sliders), has Suicidal become more easy compared to DL or is that a misconception? What do the grandmasters of war think about it?

Definitely harder in my opinion. In fact, be prepared for a slug fest the first game or two while you get used to it.

You may be right, in my first try my not-good-enough Arceans are likely to be overrun by jihading Altarians...

My baby girl was born on Monday the 21st. She is not yet out of the hospital, but she should be on Tuesday or Wednesday. Already keeping us busy!

Actually played my game some tonight. Needed a mental break after spending most of the last nine days at the hospital. I have some hope that tomorrow will be the last one at the hospital. They, unfortunately, lost the last test we need to have looked at before my baby girl can be released.

This game is well ahead of my last game and is a record breaker for me. I've got over a 1000 ships sitting at the center of a fully completed 3MA in October 2229 (DA) and 920 planets. At last check, I had about 1.3 million for a military rating. Turns are starting to get slow though!

Congrats Purge - enjoy it while it lasts, they have a tendency to grow up very quickly I've noticed (eldest is now 13, and it doesn't feel that long ago)!

Congrats Purge. Both of my two daughters ages 3 and 4, were released after two days; I hope your baby girl is fine!

With the AI improvements(most notably better planetary development), suicidal is more difficult in DA vs. DL.

Short update. We've got our girl home and have enough issues worked out that she will be staying out of the hospital. Hurray!

I think I broke the game. I had to back up a few turns on my current game as it would crash every time I hit the turn button...I suspect it has something to do with the ~8500 ships I own, so I backed it up to where I only had ~7500 ships and I'm trying a 248 Million BC upgrade...

Definitely broke the game. No matter what I do it starts crashing after a couple of turns.

Went to go ahead and just post it, and it appears that is broken for me now too. Error 12 serial mismatch between the app and the metaverse. Waiting for CS to give me a hand as I don't seem to be able to resolve it myself...

Toss that game and start a new one; I'm not going to be able to post it. A bit frustrating. Time to play with my tourney game for a while.

I've been posting most Diplo related things over at the Core lately, but I should really hold up the decapitated heads of my enemies over here once in a while.  

Just posted 692K for a DL v1.4x game. That must be a record. However I think I pretty much tested the limits of the game. Had a number of crashes and was unable to save the game for the last two game years. But I did manage to limp it home for a decent score.

Yes. The recent Core changes have kept folks busy. We also just recently finished electing two new MVC Councilors and the new metaverse league seems about ready to take off.

These gigantic, abundant all games can really suck up the time. I may lay off of these for awhile. The metaverse league will be concetrating on the smaller type games and it might be nice to give those a try for a bit.

I had something similar in breaking the game although the exact level it happens is probably related to the capability to your machine. In both my latest and previous game I had no real issue having on the order of 25,000 ships. I did have to be very careful to not allow them to move on autopilot or end turn would literally take two hours. In my latest game I saved up seven rounds of ship builds by each planet then every 7th turn would fleet them up and send them to my rally point by hand.

The final upgrade is an issue though. That's what broke my last game I think. For me there seemed to be a hard limit at around 17,000 ships. The cost of the upgrade didn't seem to matter just the total number of ships. BTW for scoring purposes it's better to upgrade to the ultimate defense instead of ultimate offense. The best offense is the BHE for 25 points in a space of 12 (dependent on miniaturization) but the max defense is 10 points in 4 space or 30 points for 12 space. That plus in general your defense bonus seems to usually be a tad higher than your weapons bonus. Of course you do want at least one of each kind.
