Can you watch the ai fight against itself

without you watching

I was wondering, is it possible to watch the ai play against itself without you getting involved in any way, just hitting end turn and opening up detail windows as you wish?

That would be phat. I dunno why, but I have always liked doing that occasionaly; make a sandwhich or something, put the computer on insane difficulty, and watch all the carnage from whatever veiwpoint you like. Very few games have it, though.

I know there is a debugging cheat key that does it...not sure if that's going to be supported in the gold or bonus pack builds, but the functionality is definatly there (Brad used that quite often to balance the different AI personalities).

That would be a very cool feature... hope we get it sometime

Are the AI's balanced in this in general. I know in GC1 the Yor often suffered. Also the humans not getting Cartography- does that make their AI weaker, or do they get a bonus to make up for it?

The AI no longer automagically knows where the good planets are at... they know absolutely nothing about the map when you first start a game. They have to send scout ships out just like you do....

False. While they don't know where the good planets are, most races still begin with Stellar Cartography, so at least know where the planets are. They just have to explore them one by one to find which ones are colonizable.

The balancing aspect is mainly in diplomacy, and maybe the secondary world they get. For example, humans always get Mars (class 4) planet I think. Yor have some pretty great stats, 100% loyalty, the best logistics, and a ton of techs at start. However, they suffer diplomatically (not shown in stats) vs. every other race I think.

I would like to see battles that involve any of your allies just so battles would have some importance to you and not get boring with races you don't care about.
