So what happened to the 'Faith in Science thread?

Wanted to read and there is was...gone.

Just curious as to why the 'Faith in Science' thread has suddenly disappeared. I went back to amend something after an accidental triple post (error message saying first 2 had failed) and it was gone. Given that I had been plagued with server errors that night, I put it down to site issues at the time, but I see the thread is still missing a couple of days later. If someone could provide the answer as to why I'd be most grateful as it was an interesting and thought provoking thread worth reading.

It's still there...but just not here...as it was 'altered' in content, something which is preferably only the responsibility of the Wincustomize.com mods...if it's to be 'syndicated' here.

Comment removal outside the jurisdiction of the site mods exposes the latter to potential recriminations of 'comment abuse by heavy-handed admins' where there was none...

Do you mean that the thread was a blog & the person who initiated the thread edited or removed posts?

Okay! Shame that, an interesting thread goes guts up, annoying too, if it's a dummy spit over comments originating here at WC?

At least you can put yourself in a list of big names that had their beliefs stifled Starkers. Galileo, Einstein, etc.

Yes...a bit of Strine is 'dummy spit'...but no, it wasn't that 'drastic'....just one of those things that happens....from time to time....

Sure is....sorta refers to a 'tot type' tantrum....ain't happy so spits the dummy in anger/temper (dummy = Pacifier U.S.).
It was an eye opening and enlightening thread about values, ideals and beliefs, thoughts on human existence and its place in the universe, rather than a competition about who's right or wrong.....and sadly, the opportunity to get to know and better understand others here at WC has been removed.

Suppose I could, really....but I'm not sure the name starkers belongs on the same page as those of the great thinkers, much less the same sentence. I'm just an average bloke with an average mind....nothing outstanding about me 'cept my belly, which stands out quite noticably since age and gravity caused my chest to migrate in a Southerly direction

I know a gal named Strine...shares my first name .....her hubby was mine's best friend before he died from lung cancer some few years back...I think she runs some kind of beauty products type thing ...facial creams bubble baths stuff like that... we were tight until she moved....we bought an old toolbox full of mechanic tools....my husband bought it from her not only to be able to help her out but to also keep his buddy's tools for sentimental reasons rather than have them go to a stranger....we loaded it onto a trailer..those sonofaguns are heavy!..and got it home.....the air guns and some of the other things we paid for weren't in it anymore ...he was pretty mad about it.....and then she moved cuz she couldn't do the upkeep on her house and stuff...got a fancy bunch of friends.....and I guess we weren't fancy enough anymore

I miss her from time to time......we used to go over to the house and just sit around talking and stuff..heck that was my first date with my husband...we went over there....

and then her husband died and we had promised to help her so we went over there....would mow the grass, take care of her cats when she went away for a weekend, we even repaired her garage roof skylights (what a chore!!!)...helped her anyway we could...took of the mower deck and put on the snowblower....whenever she had a problem...went over to fix it ...but the only time she ever called us was when she wanted something...and it got strange...

then we weren't good enough anymore......she found a better bunch...more money...(she had her insurance to play on I guess)...too busy to rub elbows with the likes of us.....oh....she'd call once in a while when she got to feeling guilty...or something broke...and then it got less....and less....then she sold her house and moved into a place where everything was taken care of and she didn't need us to come over and fix anything anymore...

she only came over here to OUR house ONCE in all those years...we weren't good enough...being the flannel wearing country type....

I don't even know why I'm writing all this here except when I saw Strine it got me thinking about how things change.....

I noticed it was gone too, but doesn't really matter to me. Someone else will come up with a religion and/or politics thread, and we'll have our fun again...

They're a common lot, Mrs Footsie....

Over here in Oz, we call folks of that ilk "fairweather friends."

Had you ever needed something from her during that time, I bet you wouldn't have seen her ~for the dust at her heels...

footsie Who needs friends like that anyhow? A true friend is quite happy to meet for a chin wag in the bargain basement if you want....snob acquaintances insist it's below them and suggest an alternative they know you can't afford...
Besides, it's a much happier, more congenial event when you rub shoulders with someone who's not ashamed to be seen on the same side of the street. When you're an average guy/gal and come across people who deny breaking wind, refuse to admit buying generic brands and lie about owning expensive artworks that are in fact just clever prints, it's time to move on.

Glad to hear it...more pleasing to think it was more amicable than a dummy spit

My apologies to ParaTed2k2 for raising the question.

What a good expression! It is so true that you only find out who your real friends are, if you are down.
