perhaps you will be the one to make it so. (i have a strong preference to star trek voyager if you need suggestions jking, really, do whatever you want, make it your own personal design)

A star trek mod is so cliche.
However a mod like that would be a piece of cake from what I can see of the file structure from pre-loading. (difficulty wise, you're still looking at a significant effort for the grunt work)

Star trek mod would be nice and ot wont be a cliche. You can mod not only the federation but the other races too(kligon romulan borg etc) you even have minor races(look for birth of the federation there you have races research buildings ships and the net is full of info too). Soo if someone would think of doing i would surely play it. How would you fell to see on your screen a big borg cube heading your way???

I also like the idea of an Star Trek-mod. It would be cool to beat up the Dominion and the Borg, and the whole rest of the entire Galaxie of course
When someone starts creating such mod, I would really like to help it coming into existing

BOTF was a good game, don't get me wrong I think a Star Trek mod could be great if done right, it's just the most obvious one to do, every game released even remotely related to space has a star trek mod of some kind.. If it were possible at the time I'm sure someone would have made that little asteroids ship look like a ray-traced enterprise.

I have a few ideas, something like a Jules Verne vision of space would be something special, but I'm waiting to see how well I could achieve them, and of course I want to enjoy the real game first!

My first shot at a custom race was The Foundation with home planet Trantor and leader Harry Seldon.

Yeah I know, that's not a mod but Foundation would be a decent project for those with the skills.

Other mods worth pondering would be an Edenist mod or a mod based on Vinges zones

Since stargates are mentioned in the game a neat treaty might be the ability to establish the gates with select races to facilitate additional trade and assistance. Has a nice upside and a potential downside if the relationship goes sour.

Seems like a shame not to use perfectly good stargates. Surely they all weren't salvaged to make colony ships.

The "Terran Trade Authority" series of books (one of my favorites as a kid) seems like it would be a good source for a mod, although I can imagine it would be a *bit* of a challenge... Linky: Link

Well I'm certainly all for a Star Trek Mod. BotF is still one of my favorite games (even with all its myriad flaws), but I admit it's been getting a little old for me the last couple years. Since there seems to be virtually no chance of a sequel being made at this point, I say "bring it on"!

I still play BotF on a regular basis and do hope to see a ST Mod made....Battlestar Galactica would be nice but we don't have spacecraft carriers in GalCiv II, or do we? Babylon 5 would be great too....

I was introduced to the Foundation series in high school back in the early 80's. I loved how the weak Terminus colony used stragety to survive against superior foes and that it was all predetermined by Harry Seldon using his psychohistory (mathematical models)! Dr. Isaac Asimov later linked this series with his popular robot series in Foundation and Earth. Link
